BGN Girl: Jacqueline Howard

Jacqueline Howard, 26, is the associate editor at HuffPost Science, where she now hosts the original video series “Talk Nerdy To Me.” Ever since she was a young girl, Jacqueline was fascinated by the flow of information and discovery: She wrote short stories in her journals, read teen magazines cover-to-cover, and imagined herself on TV, anchoring the nightly news.As if a dream come true, she’s now able to do all of that at once as an on-camera associate editor for The Huffington Post. Jacqueline joined the HuffPost Science team in March 2012. Prior, she spent two years as an editor with the AOL company Patch Media, where she spearheaded the Southern California-based “Patch of Nature” science-reporting project. Her aim at the time of the project’s launch – which is a personal goal that still remains today – was to open the public’s eyes to the curious ways in which our environment is changing. Now as a science journalist, she hopes to encourage other young women (especially women of color) to chase this curiosity and celebrate their intelligence as well as their femininity. Jacqueline has produced content for USAToday.com, MTV Networks, CBS News Productions, and WCPO-TV in Cincinnati, her hometown.Jacqueline earned her master’s degree in broadcast journalism from the USC Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism, where she received the Jack Langguth First Amendment Award. She earned her bachelor’s degree in communication studies from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
